BLACK RIVER & STANDPIPE ROADS UPDATES

Road Construction Sign

EDDY COUNTY ROAD PROJECTS UPDATE

·       BLACK RIVER ROAD PROJECT – James Hamilton Construction (JHCC) is the contractor hired.

o   They have started the mobilization process.

o   Upcoming road work signage is being set up.

o   JHCC will be working on a Traffic Control Plan (TCP).

o   They will backfill potholes with base course or crusher fines.  This will ensure a more consistent Bomag process-reclaiming materials into soil.

o   Will have Phase I Flagger control during patching.

o   On Wednesday, October 3, JHCC should begin Bomag process-reclaiming materials into soil.

o   Expect road closures and delays.  This is the only way to speed up the process of this project.

o   If you are in this area, PLEASE OBEY ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES.

·       STANDPIPE ROAD PROJECT

o   Traffic light has been turned on at the intersection of Lea St and 6th St.  The intersection is working well.

o   Standpipe Road is still closed at this time.  There is signage showing road closed.

o   The goal is to open Standpipe in Mid-November or sooner, weather permitting.

o   Had substantial delays from the Utility companies in both Phase I and Phase II of the project.

o   This is a very large project with several variables and many underground utilities.  Logistics have been challenging.  Thank you for your patience!
